Stand-Up patient lifts pull the patient up and forward. Using a special padded slings that wrap around the back and underneath the armpits, patients can be safely transferred from bed to a commode or chair. Special transport slings can be used to transfer patients with little or no weight-bearing capability. Electric Stand-Assist lifts made by Invacare and Hoyer are easy to maneuver through doorways. Manual models are an excellent low-cost alternative for patients who are able to help themselves into a standing position.
